Frederick Travis, Ph.D.

Dr. Fred Travis is Distinguished Professor of Neuroscience and Director of the Center for Brain, Consciousness and Cognition at Maharishi University of Management, USA. He received his MA and PhD in Psychology from Maharishi University of Management (MUM) in 1988. Following two years of post-doctoral research focused on brain changes during sleep, he returned to Maharishi University of Management to direct its world-renowned Center for Brain, Consciousness and Cognition.

Prof. Travis teaches graduate-level courses on the brain and consciousness. He has authored 78 research articles and book chapters investigating the effects of Transcendental Meditation practice on: 1) child development; 2) ADHD in children; 3) posttraumatic stress in veterans and refugees; 4) the brain patterns of higher states of consciousness; and 5) the brain patterns of world class executives, athletes and performers. Dr. Travis has become the world’s most highly cited researcher in the fast-emerging field of meditation, brain development, and higher states of consciousness.
